Carnitine is a compound derived from the amino acids methionine and lysine that helps with metabolism and energy production from food. This amino acid can also increase sperm count and motility, thereby improving fertility.

L-Carnitine is synthesized in the human brain, liver, and kidneys from the amino acids methionine and lysine. It breaks down fatty acids to provide cellular energy by transporting them into the mitochondria—the organelles responsible for energy production—where they are used for energy. This compound can have broad effects on metabolism and energy supply in the body. Additionally, this amino acid can influence sperm, enhancing their strength, motility, and count, thereby improving fertility.
Oral intake of L-carnitine may cause side effects including nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, heartburn, gastritis, diarrhea, and headache.
To reduce gastrointestinal side effects, the contents of the vial can be taken in two separate doses or dissolved in a beverage or liquid food and consumed with or after meals.
Avoid taking it simultaneously with hypothyroidism medications and warfarin.
Precautions and warnings:
People with hypothyroidism (due to interference with thyroid hormones) and epilepsy (due to the possibility of increased severity and frequency of seizures) should consult a doctor before use.
