Carnitine is a compound derived from the amino acids methionine and lysine that helps in metabolism and energy production from food. It is naturally produced within the body. Additionally, this amino acid can influence sperm cells, increasing sperm count and motility, thereby improving male fertility.

10 single-dose oral liquid vials with patient information leaflet.
L-Carnitine is synthesized in the human brain, liver, and kidneys from the amino acids methionine and lysine. Carnitine breaks down fatty acids to provide cellular energy; it transports fatty acids into the mitochondria—the organelles responsible for energy production—so they can be used for energy. This compound can have broad effects on metabolism and energy supply in the body. Additionally, this amino acid can affect sperm, enhancing their motility, count, and strength, thereby improving fertility.
Oral intake of L-carnitine may cause side effects including nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, heartburn, gastritis, diarrhea, and headache.
To reduce gastrointestinal side effects, the contents of the vial can be taken in two separate doses or dissolved in a beverage or liquid food and consumed with or after meals.
Avoid taking it simultaneously with hypothyroid medications and warfarin.
People with hypothyroidism (due to interference with thyroid hormones) and epilepsy (due to the possibility of increased severity and frequency of seizures) should consult a doctor before use.
