Insufficient intake of vitamin C from food and inadequate body stores can lead to vitamin C deficiency. Additionally, factors such as air pollution, tobacco and cigarette use, fighting certain diseases and infections, and type 2 diabetes increase the body’s need for this vitamin.
Vitamin C is involved in numerous physiological and metabolic processes. Along with its antioxidant effects and protection against free radicals, it plays a key role in the proper functioning of cells involved in the immune system.
Side effects such as stomach irritation, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, headache, hot flashes, and flank pain may rarely occur. High doses of vitamin C can lead to hyperoxaluria (increased excretion of oxalate in the urine), which may increase the risk of oxalate stone formation.
Vitamin C can interact with estrogen derivatives and aluminum hydroxide.
In cases of kidney failure, continuous use of medications containing aluminum, such as aluminum hydroxide, a history of oxalate stones, hemochromatosis, and G6PD deficiency (favism) should be taken with caution and under a physician’s guidance.
Avoid using this product if you have oxalate kidney failure.
It is safe to consume the recommended amount of this product during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
